U2 Vie With Stereophonics for Q Awards

U2 are in the running for three prestigious prizes at this year's Q Awards in London, at the end of this month.

U2 have been nominated for best album, best live act and best act in the world - and Welsh band Stereophonics, who are supporting U2 on many of their Elevation 2001 live dates are up against U2 in each category.

Both acts compete with REM, Radiohead, Travis and Manic Street Preachers for the title of best act in the world. Travis won that award last year, while the Manics won it the year before.

Longtime U2 producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois are also nominated for their work on All That You Can't Leave Behind.

Q, the leading UK rock magazine, makes its awards on October 29th.
