Beautiful Day Hits Top Spot Across Europe.

16 Oct 2000
U2's first single in two years has gone straight in at No.1 on pop charts across Europe.
And in Australia, where Beautiful Day has also gone in at No.1, the band have become only the second act ever to have three consecutive singles charting in the top spot.
The only other act to achieve this was Aussie pop singer Kylie Minogue - and yesterday her duet with Robbie Williams, Kids, had to settle for second place in the UK as U2 went straight to the top .
Beautiful Day is U2's fourth chart-topper in the UK, following Desire, The Fly and Discotheque.
The single, which is not commercially released in the US, is at No.1 in Ireland, Italy, Holland, Australia and the UK - and at No.2 in Denmark and Finland.
It is taken from the album, All That You Can't Leave Behind, which is released at the end of October.
